Gardeners World Episode 4

Episode 4 – Friday 28th March 2014

Monty Don is enjoying the abundance of primroses flowering at Longmeadow and he tells us these are his favourite flower. Its been perfect conditions this year for primroses thanks to the damp mild (temperature wise!) winter.

Carol is checking out daffodils in Cornwall and speaks to an expert who has been growing them since his childhood. We learn that during the war many daffodil fields in the South West were taken over for growing fruit and veg to feed the war effort. Despite this some careful farmers managed to save many heritage varieties and these are still incredibly popular today.

Joe Swift visits a garden in Carnforth, Lancashire which has been created on rock. An extreme garden challenge but well worth the effort!
